Statuses

Each event in Alert Manager Enterprise (AME) is assigned a status that indicates its current stage in the workflow. The Statuses UI allows you to view, create, edit, and delete these statuses.

info

To manage statuses, users must have the appropriate role permissions. See Role Overview for details.

info

The features Event Restrictions, Resolution Restrictions, and TTL Behavior require an AME Support subscription.

Statuses UI

The Statuses screen provides an overview of all existing statuses. You can add new statuses or modify existing ones directly from the UI.

  3. Add a Description to explain when this status is used.
  4. Select a Type (see Status Types).
  5. Define Next Possible Statuses to control status transition logic.
  6. (Optional) Enable Requires Resolution to force resolution selection when this status is assigned.

Status Types

Status types define the purpose and placement of the status within the event lifecycle:

  • New – The event has just been created.
  • In Progress – Work is ongoing for the event.
  • Done – The event has been resolved or completed.

These types impact filtering options in the Event Summary view.

Next Possible Statuses

This setting allows you to define which statuses are valid transitions from the current status. This helps structure and control the flow of events through different states.

Requires Resolution

Enable this option to require users to select a resolution when assigning this status.
See Resolutions for more info.

Restricted Resolutions

If Requires Resolution is active, you can limit which resolution options are available when transitioning to this status.

Event Restriction

Use this option to enforce conditional logic—status transitions will only be allowed if certain criteria are met.

note

Status transitions are processed after all other field updates in the event.

Apply TTL Behavior

When this is enabled, the Time-to-Live (TTL) defined in the template will begin counting when the event transitions into this status.

For example, if TTL behavior is enabled for the new status, the TTL starts counting as soon as the event enters new. If the event later transitions to another status (like in_progress or assigned), the TTL will only continue to be considered if Apply TTL Behavior is also enabled for those subsequent statuses. Otherwise, TTL enforcement stops.

To update a status:

  1. Make any necessary edits.
  2. Click Save Status.

To delete a status:
